50 Best Open World Games Ever in 2023

An open-world game is a video game world that is non-linear, has a considerable size, and allows the player to explore it freely. In most cases, you can go wherever you want on the game’s map instead of being locked into specific areas until you progress further. Open-world games don’t have loading screens, so you can seamlessly transition from one location to another. An open-world video game also features navigation that is not linear. There are no restrictions on where the player can go and what they can see at any moment. 32: Batman: Arkham City

Arkham City was a ground-breaking game known as the spiritual successor to Arkham Asylum. In many ways, it was a much better game than the first. The open-world approach led to stunning visuals and increased complexity, but it also resulted in repetition. While exploring a fully realized Gotham City is excellent, this freedom can sometimes be confusing or tedious when looking for things such as Riddler trophies or objectives that require you to use gadgets that are difficult to find thanks to the massive environment. Still, one of the few complaints about the game is nothing more than nitpicking compared to everything good about this game.

    31: Red Dead Redemption 2

The upcoming release of Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the year’s most anticipated games, and for a good reason. The game features a vast open world with lots to explore, and you can do so while playing as an outlaw or a law-abiding citizen. Plus, there are all sorts of other stuff to do, like horseback riding, hunting, and interacting with NPCs. There are plenty of guns to choose from too, and if you don’t like getting your hands dirty, you can always hire some gang members or bounty hunters to do your dirty work. And even though it doesn’t come out until October 26, the developers have been dropping trailers now and then so that we’ll eagerly anticipate its release.

    30: The Elder Scrolls V

*The four most notable features are its open world exploration, crafting system, horse riding system, and narrative base, which ties together all the quests players complete.* These four features combined make it a popular game that many people enjoy. One of these reasons is the beautiful landscapes you can explore while on your journey. Another reason is that when you need to get supplies for your making, you can do so without leaving the area. The third reason is that it’s excellent for those who like to explore games and find hidden things. The last reason is that there are plenty of weapons to choose from to equip yourself with when defending against enemies.

    29: The Forest

If you love being scared, The Forest will be perfect for you! When the game starts, you’ll wake up with a head injury from a plane crash. You’ll find yourself in the dark forest, and all that is left of your clothes is underwear. Along with finding weapons like axes and knives to defend yourself against wild animals, you have to survive and make your way out of the forest. What’s so terrifying about this game is that even though it has no zombies or supernatural creatures like other survival games (such as Slender), it feels more accurate because there are various environmental hazards, such as poisonous plants and trees, that can kill you. To make matters worse, some player-controlled cannibals stalk the forest waiting to attack other players.

    28: Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk is a game set in the future, where the world is a dark place. The setting is Night City, California, and you play as V, a cyberpunk which has to fight against the system. The game offers you multiple choices of dialogue and character customization to help you create your own story. You can explore the world and make choices that will change how people see you or what missions you get. Your decisions affect the world around you, and you have complete control over this.

    27: Ghost of Tsushima

One of the most anticipated open-world games is Ghost of Tsushima. As one of the last samurai, players must fight against an occupying force to save their land from tyranny. In 2008, at Fanfest, the concept for DUST 514 was introduced and introduced a new way for gamers to connect with EVE Online. 19: Stray

The game has an excellent sense of humor and never gets old or dull, even after playing it for hours. There are plenty of puzzles to solve as you search the world, which can get challenging but never too frustrating or difficult. One of my favorite things about this game is that the controls are easy to learn and intuitive while still giving the player complete control over what they want their character to do.

A fantastic addition is that there are multiple ways to beat any given quest, so if your particular method isn’t working out, you can try something else.
